The varsity men returned to Legacy Christian Tuesday night, looking forward to a rematch with a team who played them to a very rough 2-2 draw back in December; what they and their fans got was a match against the LCA JV squad. (The Eagles rested their varsity squad due to their heavy match schedule at the current time)
Our boys showed up, though, and made the most of the opportunity with a 6-2 win on the strength of some of the best teamwork and passing they have exhibited in several matches.
Stephen Hoegenhauer led the way in scoring with a hat trick. On his first, Sam Lee nailed a beautiful through pass for the assist, putting Stephen one-on-one with the LCA keeper. On the other two, Stephen continued his love affair with the opposite post, scoring both with hard angle shots to the far side of the net.
Ollie Wells added a goal when he got a breakaway pass from midfield and ended up one-on-one with the LCA GK, who was unable to hold onto the hard shot and had the ball go through his hands into the net.
And last but not least, Darius Morgan scored two goals from the penalty spot to finish off his HSAA career.
