Varsity posts solid win over Episcopal School of Dallas 4-1

The varsity men in red manhandled a good ESD team last Thursday night, posting a 4-1 victory on yet another chilly, windy night... and against yet another hard-charging team with.. um... clingy personality issues.

Trevor Mrochek opened the scoring after only 2 minutes, taking a long shot from over 25 yards after Stephen Hoegenhauer fed him the ball from within the box.

In the 18th minute, Stephen decided to get into the storing game, when he took a feed from Trevor Mrochek and force-dribbled his way through a talons of a couple of Eagles, snapping off a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Six minutes later, ESD pulled back within one on a goal lofted up with the strong wind, that arced over the leap of GK Matthew Welch.

Stephen then added his second goal of the night at the 34' mark, when he found himself point-blank with the keep on the far left side of the goal after a feed from Jacob Sustala.  With a nifty piece of presti-pedi-tation, he sent the shot back to the opposite post at an extreme angle to make the score 3-1.

In the second half, Nolan Gerwing finished off the scoring for the night, when he headed in a free kick from Darius Morgan, in a textbook example of how a set play should unfold.

Darius Morgan, who was celebrated by the team for his own Senior Night.  Darius will be leaving us early to attend boot camp, as he serves our country in the USMC Reserves.  Best wishes and safe travels to him!
