Varsity finishes 2nd in POP; falls to PCA in final

The Varsity Boys' side lost to Prestonwood Christian Academy in the POP tournament final, 3-1.   After a strong showing in pool play, HSAA took second place.

Mark Trompeter opened the scoring in the 17th minute, on a assist by Brock Jolley.

Five minutes later, PCA scored the equalizer to send the teams to the locker grass knotted at 1-1.

Early in the second half, PCA went ahead on a funny bounce that made it into the net;  they then added the insurance goal at the 62' mark when one of their players slipped past the defense and bested goalkeeper Jonathan Eubanks one-on-one.

Late in the second half, Angels player Nano Martinez was seriously injured, suffering a deep cut to his head.  He was taken to the ER and received multiple stitches but is expected to recover just fine.
